About NHU

NHU, an accredited institution, is a member of the Laureate International Universities network—a global network of more than 65 accredited campus-based and online universities in 29 countries.

The university was founded in 1981 by the late Dr. B. Roberto Cruz, a visionary leader in the Hispanic community who dedicated his life to making educational opportunities available to Hispanics and others. Today, with approximately 800 students and more than 1,200 alumni, we remain dedicated to supporting our community and preparing our diverse student body for success in a competitive job market.

We offer associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, and credential and certificate programs, all taught in English—either online or at our San José campus, located in the heart of Silicon Valley. Areas of study include business, teacher education, child development, computer science, and mathematics and science.

The National Hispanic University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC),
